There are a number roles you can choose when working with animals. When working with dogs there are also courses you can take to support you along your way. From a Canine Hydrotherapist to a Vet, it’s quite varied.
1. Canine Hydrotherapist
I bet you’re wondering what on earth a Hydrotherapist is let alone a Doggy Hydrotherapist. Well it’s a person who works with water (Hydro) to help dogs recover from injury. It’s as simple as that. Obviously qualifications are needed for this role.
2. Dog Transport, pet taxi, Canine Transportation Manager
This is a more simpler task, though as we are looking at careers, it could mean that your set your own business up. Setting your own business up is more complicated than just working for someone who has the transport and the clients.
3. Assistance Dog Trainers
There is a real need to train a puppy and even a full fledged adult doggy. In fact it makes life a lot easier. Planning for your puppy’s care is the best way forward. Training your puppy as early as possible will be a great help to you and your family. There will most likely be a trainer suitable for everyone’s needs.
4. Animal Licensing Inspector, Animal Welfare Officer, Dog Warden
If you care about animals and looking to become an animal inspector, the Animal Licensing Inspector Award (RQF) Level 3 course is for you.
To promote compliance with legislation with specific responsibility for issues relating to dogs and animal welfare including the encouragement of responsible ownership, animal control and welfare, dog fouling, strays and dangerous dogs.
5. Dog Groomer
Now here is a position where you can either work for someone or set up your own business. It is preferrable to have qualifications in how to trim and dress a dogs coat. There are many places across the world that teach this fine art.
6. Pet Sitting, Dog Home Boarding
This is something you could do part time, over a weekend or when you are travelling around the UK or World. You get paid as and when you sit or board your doggy’s. The dog home boarding could actually act like a kennels. There are licences and insurances that are needed for dog home boarding. Kennels are used for dog owners who would like to go on holiday and haven’t got a pet sitter.
7. Veterinary
A vet is something you have to study hard for to gain the qualifications to practice as a veterinary. The study is just as lengthy as studying to be a doctor. Though very rewarding once complete. A vet’s is exactly like a doctors except pets need care and medical attention, rather than people. I am sure there is a vet near you if needed.
8. Dog Walker
You may not need any qualifications for this role. You can manage how many dogs you look after and walk each dog together or separately. You can do this when you are house sitting. You could also set up your own business doing this.
9. Dog Photographer
This role would just include you taking photo’s of dogs in various scenarios. Families, various pet owners, magazines, movies or different types of advertising.
10.Doggy Chef
Someone who specifically cooks dog food for a living. There are various companies who do this, though why not become a chef for this specifically.
